Chicagoland Kids Expo

Come and bring the kids to the Chicagoland Kids Expo in Schaumburg.  There is fun for parents and children alike all weekend.  The expo run March 8 & 9 starting at 10:00 AM on Saturday and 10:30 on Sunday.  The Barefoot Hawaiian Keiki dance students perform to the young and old alike at 5:00 on Saturday. 

Tickets are just $5 for children 3-12, $10 for adults, and children under 3 are free, and the parking is free.  Visit the web site to save $1 on admission.

Yes, the Irish and the Hawaiian traditions do blend together well, as you will see in this Hawaiian-style, St. Patrick's Day show at the Cheeseburger in Paradise in Downers Grove.  If you happen to have green Aloha attire, you will be right in to celebrate with us.  It's not required though.  Come as you are or in your favorite St. Patrick's Day attire or in Aloha attire.

This show is FREE to restaurant dining patrons.  Order food and beverages from regular menu.

The Barefoot Hawaiian is proud to be performing at the 2014 Celebration of Cultures event at the Elk Grove Village Pavilion.  As the Elk Grove Village Library states:

"The Elk Grove Park District and the Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove have teamed up to bring us this exciting event.  This free event will spotlight individuals and groups representing their traditional backgrounds as well as highlight some of your favorite ethnic foods.  It promises to educate and celebrate the many nationalities in Elk Grove Village."

The event is free and runs from 6:00 - 8:30 PM.  With the following Barefoot Hawaiian participation:

The 15th Annual Kaneland Community Fine Arts Festival

The Kaneland Arts Initiative is proudly sponsoring the 15th Annual Kaneland Community Fine Arts Festival, and the Barefoot Hawaiian will be providing one of the featured performances.  The festival is free and runs from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The Barefoot Hawaiian performance will be in the high school auditorium from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m., but we encourage all to attend the entire festival of fine arts, where you will have a multi-cultural experience, all wrapped up with the Barefoot Hawaiian performing the final show.

This special class offers a special and unique opportunity for a mom and her daughter to bond while learning the hula together. This class is for daughters of all ages. If you are a grandmother, you may also attend with your granddaughter. What a wonderful way to honor mothers on Mother's Day.

DanzaPalooza

Lisle, IL

DanzaPalooza is the biggest dance event, convention, and party in the Midwest that embraces all styles of dance, including ethnic dances, such as Hula and Tahitian.  The convention runs the entire Memorial Day Weekend from Friday May 23 through Sunday May 25.  You can dance all night at this convention if you wanted to and take lessons on dances that you have perhaps never even heard of.  DanzaPalooza brings in the top instructors from the Midwest and across the country to teach the classes available at this event.

As one of the nations top Polynesian instructors, Gwen Kennedy will be teaching beginner Hula on Saturday from 2 to 3 pm and beginner Tahitian dance from 3 to 4 pm.

You can purchase tickets to take an individual workshop for $10 per class.  Also available are tickets for evenings, all day, and a pass for the entire for the weekend.  If you are interested in an all-day or weekend pass, hurry as early-bird special pricing ends May 18.

"For the past [68] years, children of all ages have delighted in one of our community’s most treasured events — America’s Original Pet Parade! This colorful, crowd-pleasing event is sponsored by Pets and Pals Charities Ltd., and is truly one of a kind.  From children showcasing their pets, to marching bands, floats, and clowns, the Pet Parade provides wholesome fun and entertainment for the entire family.

"Pets and Pals Charities, established in 1999, is headquartered in La Grange, Illinois. It is dedicated to promoting and supporting the health and care of animals in Metropolitan Chicago. In addition it promotes awareness of the value of animals in individuals lives and the special bonds that exists between kids and animals. Pets and Pals Charities accomplishes its mission through sponsorship of the acclaimed La Grange Pet Parade, providing educational scholarships for youth, and promoting responsible pet ownership through classes that show people how to care for their pets."

The Barefoot Hawaiian is delighted to be one of the marching performers in this parade and taking part in an event with a wonderful cause.  The parade starts at Cossitt Ave. and LaGrange Rd. in LaGrange.

Six Corners BBQ Fest

"Welcome to the 6 Corners BBQ Fest —

Seating Availability and Suggestions:

Bring your own lawn chair to enjoy a close up view of the show from the lawn directly in front of the stage and to enjoy the show from a more comfortable seat.  You will need to arrive early - at least an hour before show to secure a place for your chair in this prime location.  This show is among the most popular and attended of our public annual shows.  For everyone else, stadium bench seating a little further back is provided by the park district.  Please note that these are permanent bench-style hard seats without seat backs, so you may wish to bring a blanket, cushion, or cushion seat with back to be more comfortable during the show.

This is a rare opportunity for the general public to see our 2014 "Waves, Flowers, and Fires of Polynesia" show in indoor auditorium comfort and seating, entirely sponsored by the Barefoot Hawaiian.  All student divisions will be performing with special emphasis on our younger dancers.  This is the perfect opportunity to see what our students have learned this past school year.  The show will be supplemented with some special performances by dancers from professional dance troupe.  This complete and unabridged, "director's cut" of the show will run about 3 hours and is our best bargain of the year.

Farewell to Summer Family Luau

Winnetka, IL

Winnetka's Tower Road Beach officially closes for the season on Labor Day.  But do not pack up the swim suits just yet. Tower Road Beach will re-open for one more day for families to get together and say goodbye to summer on Saturday, September 6, Luau style. Lifeguards will come back to guard the water from 4 - 6 pm and food will be served throughout the event with the Barefoot Hawaiian providing music throughout. Then the night really gets exciting with the Barefoot Hawaiian's live luau dance and fire show from 6:30 to 7:30. 

There is a fee required to attend and pre-registration is required through the Winnetka Park District, either in person or online to determine how much food will be needed for the event. For more information contact the Winnetka Park District via the information below.

"Inspired by the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany, which began in 1545, the Christkindlmarket Chicago brings a cherished German and European tradition with international flair and local charm to Chicago. Chicago's largest open-air Christmas festival was first held on Pioneer Court in 1996."

The 19th Annual Christkindlmarket runs from November 21 through December 24.  The Barefoot Hawaiian will be bringing "Hawaii comes to Chicago" at the 19th Annual Christkindlmarket on this date at the following location.

For events listed here that are not run by us but instead are run by, sponsored by, or promoted by our client entirely, which represents most of the entries on this page, the Barefoot Hawaiian has no control or involvement in that event other than being hired entertainment.  Once we have been informed of a significant change or cancellation, we make every effort to post that information here promptly — usually within 24 hours.  For that reason, we suggest you check back with this web page often and especially a day or two before the event you were planning to attend.  You should also be checking with the event's promoter via telephone, email, or their web site for possible changes that may affect you.

Beyond this public information service, the Barefoot Hawaiian has no control, authority, or ability to handle matters or arrangements that were made between you and the event's manager.   For these, please contact the event promoter/manager/sponsor directly to resolve any business, arrangement, or issue you may have with them, or to forward all feedback to them whether complimentary or complaint.  If however,  you have a complaint of significance that you feel we should know about, see the feedback section of our Contact Page on providing us this feedback.
