The following was our schedule of public shows,
appearances, and special events for 2022
Our show title for this year was
"BALI HAI"
The Barefoot Hawaiian
history of "BALI HAI":
"BALI HAI"
is a location in Tahiti that means Mystical,
Distant Island.
This show title has been chosen in recognition, that in 2023, we will be
celebrating our 50th Anniversary of bringing "Hawaii to the
Mainland," and celebrating our 40th Anniversary of doing so
incorporated under the name, "Barefoot Hawaiian."
"BALI HAI" is a throw-back and recreation of the original
show we did in our first year of production 40 years ago, in 1983, as the
"Barefoot
Hawaiian."
We invite you to celebrate with us all year long in 2023, 40 years of
Barefoot Hawaiian and 50 years (under a previous name) of our bringing Hawaii to
Chicago, the Midwest, and the entire Mainland.

dancers as part of a World's Fare Themed Event sponsored and operated by Jewel
Osco. The full event starts at 11:00 AM, with the Barefoot Hawaiian
representing the Hawaiian Islands at this World's Fare with a 1 hour show from
1:00 to 2:00 PM.

Taste of AAPI and Business Expo
(Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Celebration)
12:00 Noon - 3:00 PM
Chicago, Illinois (Chinatown Neighborhood)
 May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month and the Jewel
Osco located near Chicago's Chinatown is in recognition and celebration of
it. In that endeavor, they have hired the Barefoot Hawaiian to
perform.
The full event runs for 3 hours from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM with the Barefoot Hawaiian
performing a full 1-hour show from 2:00 to 3:00 PM inside the store. The
show will feature two musicians and two
dancers.
In addition, prior to the Barefoot Hawaiian finale, there will be a Chinese
singing and Children's Dance Performance from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM and a
performance by the Lion Dancers from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Attendance is free. Come on out
for an afternoon of entertainment and food tasting and show your support for our Asian American friends and get your grocery shopping done too.

Summer Reading Kick-Off Celebration

The Wheaton Public Library kicks off their summer reading program with a
celebration on June 10 that features a concert and dance performance by the Barefoot
Hawaiian. The concert and performance will be held outdoors on the West Plaza. The
Barefoot Hawaiian will be playing recorded music from
1:00 to 2:00 PM for the pre-show enjoyment of arriving
library guests. This will be followed by a full-hour
dance performance from 2:00
to 3:00 PM.

The Barefoot Hawaiian performance on Friday, June 16 is part of a
weekend-long event called "RIPH Tiki" and runs from Wednesday,
June 14 through Sunday, June 18. Visit their web site below for details of
all events over this long-weekend Tiki party.
On Friday, June 16 the featured entertainment is the
Barefoot Hawaiian show. Food and beverage service related tonight's
performance starts at 7:00 PM. So arrive early for good table from which to
enjoy our show and to get your food and drink before the start of
performance. The Barefoot Hawaiian show is a full 1-hour performance that
starts at 8:30 PM and ends at 9:30 PM.
Please note the times shown on the Rock Island Public
House web site may be incorrect as to the Barefoot Hawaiian performance time
(they were at the time of this web update on 6/14/2023). Clarifying: Food
and beverage service starts at 7:00 PM and the performance starts at 8:30 PM.

"Tiki Bash"

The Plainfield Park District is hosting its "Tiki Bash" at the
Ottawa Street Pool. The bash runs from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and will be featuring
the Barefoot Hawaiian playing pre-recorded Polynesian music from 3:00 to 4:00 PM
followed by a Polynesian Dance Show from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. Attendance to
the Tiki Bash event is free and requires no advanced registration, but entrance
to the pool area requires either a season pool pass or daily admission

The Plainfield Park District writes:
"Join us at the Ottawa Street Pool for an evening of Polynesian fun that includes dancing, food and crafts. No registration is necessary for this FREE
event...
"Ottawa Street Pool is located across from the Recreation / Administration Center near downtown Plainfield. The 278,000 gallon L-shaped outdoor pool is equipped with high and low diving boards and contains lap lanes. The facility also has deck chairs for sun-bathing, a 3,000 gallon enclosed tot wading pool, and a picnic area for patrons.
"Everyone passing through the admissions area is required to either pay the daily admission fee or present their season pass. You may only pay by cash or credit card; no personal checks are allowed.

live music and Polynesian dance show this evening.

Barefoot Hawaiian band will be performing live music from
6:00 to 6:30 PM for the pre-show enjoyment of arriving guests. This will be followed by a full-hour
Polynesian dance show with three entertainers from 6:30
to 7:30 PM. There will be concessions with beer
and tropical drinks for sale starting at 6:00 PM. After the Barefoot
Hawaiian live performances, the park district will be showing the movie, "Moana."

PM. A two-dancer, 1-hour Barefoot Hawaiian show will take place during the
luau dinner from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Luau patrons may hang out until around
8:30 - 9:00 PM. One price (see below) provides the complete 4-course luau
consisting of dinner, drinks, and the show.

at the Village of Antioch Aquatic Center for this year's Pool Party Luau.
The Barefoot Hawaiian Band will be playing live music the 6:00 to 8:00 PM and
will be joined by the Barefoot Hawaiian Dancers from 7:00 to 8:00 PM with
Polynesian Dance Show.
Admission is $5 for Aquatic Center Pass-Holders and $8 for Non-Pass-Holders.

Eisenhower Public Library's 50th Anniversary Festival

Barefoot Hawaiian performing
This performance will be outdoors
The complete festival runs from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM with
the
Barefoot Hawaiian kicking things off with a 45-minute performance at 12:00 Noon
The Eisenhower Public Library writes...
"Since we first opened our doors in 1973, we've been grateful to be a part of the communities of Norridge and Harwood Heights. To thank you for 50 years of support, we're throwing a '70s themed party and you're invited!
"On Sunday, October 1st the Library grounds will be transformed into a 1970s-era festival with activities for all ages. Between sets from the Elvis trubte
[sic] artist Hugo Conlin and the Barefoot Hawaiian Dancers, boogie down to the sounds of the '70s with our DJ. Drop into our Kid's Zone to play some classic games and win prizes. Check out our Rec Room for retro video games, ping pong, and more. Wear your grooviest '70's attire for our costume parade and take a selfie in our photo booth. The library will be closed for service but don't forget to hustle inside for some funky crafts and chow down on a free donut from Allegretti's Bakery."
