Members of The Barefoot Hawaiian performed traditional Polynesian dances at the July 15 Live at the Lake event in Des Plaines, part of the Des Plaines Park District's Summer Entertainment Series.

The event drew a crowd of more than 200 spectators to the Lake Park Memorial Pavilion at Lee Street between Touhy and Howard avenues.

The Polynesian performing arts company took the audience on a tour of the islands from Fiji to Tahiti to the islands of Hawaii with traditional music, costume and dance.  Des Plaines is home to the Barefoot Hawaiian, with a store, offices and studio located at 1401 Oakton St.

Affiliates of the group also recently opened a restaurant called Tiki Terrace at 1591 Lee St., Des Plaines.  The restaurant participated at this year's Taste of Des Plaines.
